India's Ratan: The Man of Integrity

India's Ratan: The Man of Integrity
Ratan Tata

I bet there is no Indian who doesn't know Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata is an industrialist, philanthropist, and one of the most indigenous men. He is the son of Naval Tata and Sooni Tata. He was born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, India. He started his career with the Tata Steel division in 1962 and continued it till 2012. Well before him Jamshedji Tata and J.R.D Tata played a massive role in Tata's history. Tatas gave us companies like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Service, Tata Consumer Products, Tata Chemicals, Tata Communications, Titan, Tata Power, Tata Capital, Tata Advanced Systems, and some more. Most of them are listed on Indian stock exchanges.

Now, here are the top 3 lessons to learn from him-

India's Ratan: The Man of Integrity
Trust

1. Trust Building:- If you are a foreigner and ever come to India, consider asking any Indian about Tata Group. Ask "Is Tata a loyal company?" Almost all will answer "Yes!" They can swear that Tata can not deceive. In India, Tata is another name of trust and Ratan Tata substantiated that. He always paid attention to his employees, workers, investors, and common people. He is not only excellent in business management but also a generous problem solver. He tends to find the problems, then goes to the grass-roots level, then cleans the junk, and thus he sorts the problem out. He never supports the countries that are against our country and people. He didn't impose our country for any business purpose. That expresses how he built the trust.
There is another incident in support of this.

Once he promised his ex-girlfriend(from LA) that he will not marry anyone else than her. One day suddenly his grandmother, who fostered him, called him to India. He came back to India. Meanwhile, during the Indo-china war in 1962, the parents' of his ex-girlfriend fixed her marriage with someone else. And due to the promise, till now Ratan Tata does not get married.
He said, "I tend to not say things loosely. I try to live up to whatever I said commitments I've made."

In an event, N.R Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys, touches the feet of Ratan Tata. As we all know Infosys and TCS are rival companies. But though Narayana Murthy touched the feet of Ratan Tata. This is the magic of being simple, trustworthy, and generous.

-These incidents indicates how trustworthy he is and why I'm calling him the man of integrity.

Success

2. Success is The Actual Revenge: Well revenge, criticism, competition these things usually depicts negative emotions. But these things can also be done healthily.
Like, once Tata Motors' passenger vehicle division was going through a tough situation. That's why Ratan Tata and his team went to Detroit to ask for help from Ford Company in 1999. In the meeting with Ratan Tata and top executives with Ford officials, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motors Company, said, "You do not know anything, why did you start the passenger car division at all. We will do a favor by buying your car division." Ratan Tata felt too much humiliated that day. But he utilized Bill's humiliation as fuel. He put his blood, sweat, and tears in the passenger vehicle division and soon he revived it. On the other hand, Bill Ford's Jaguar & Land Rover started facing huge losses. Then the day came when Bill Ford and his team came to Mumbai and asked the help of Ratan Tata in 2008. Ratan Tata accepted their proposal and bought Jaguar & Land Rover for $2.3 Billion. Ford chairman Bill Ford thanked Tata, saying "You are doing us a big favor by buying JLR."

-Bill Ford humiliated Ratan Tata but he used that humiliation as a resolution and thus he took his revenge through his success and proved that success is the actual revenge.

Philanthropy

3. Philanthropy: One of Ratan Tata's greatest and legendary characteristics is his philanthropy and love for others. He serves the nation with his bests. You must be mesmerized to hear that he donates an estimated 66% of his income every year to charity. This supports education, health, livelihood generation, rural development, and art and culture. He also donates a huge amount for cancer patients.
What a legend he is! Applause 👏. This quality makes his name more bright.

-These are not enough to say about him. He is always there for the nation and people. He is down-to-earth and does not show arrogance in front of anyone. Despite being a reputed industrialist, he lives a simple lifestyle. He is the recipient of two of the highest civilian awards of India, the Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000). Besides these, he got a lot more honors and awards. As an Indian🇮🇳, we can give him nothing but respect. He should be awarded, Bharat Ratna as a tribute and symbol of appreciation and respect.
